    And breathe.

I didn’t plan a blog break right then – life just took over. First we had visitors for nearly two weeks, I thought that I could just continue on as normal but that was impossible. Work didn’t happen, blogging didn’t happen, and unfortunately neither did exercise. The good thing is that my food and diet did continue on as normal – I haven’t weighed myself but I would hope that there has been no change with my weight.

  • How to lose 100lbs – Accountability

newshadow-smallI am going to start the habit of accountability here on the blog. Sometimes (like today) this will take up a whole blog post but, because I don’t want it to get too tedious, sometimes I will just add an ‘update’ paragraph or two at the end of other posts.

  • Beef Bone Broth

    OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I became interested in bone broth while researching joint health, before I had heard about Paleo. Although bone broth might appear to be the latest thing, it isn’t anything new, it is simply a stock made from animal bones and vegetables, and cooked for a long time (often in a slow cooker).

  • Roast Chicken Dinner

I want to follow the last post with a meal recipe that clearly demonstrates the Paleo diet. If you are from the UK, then you should definitely recognise this meal: A traditional roast chicken Sunday lunch.

This is my mum’s roast chicken, I don’t always use this method but I love the way it creates a cosy, warming meal for the winter months.

  • My Paleo Diet – Introduction

    paleofood

Before I discovered the Whole30, I had already dismissed Paleo as being total and utter nonsense.

My first impression of Paleo had been of a diet where you could eat lots of indulgent cakes and bakes, all day, as long as they were made out of super expensive* ‘Paleo’ ingredients, and (Abracadabra!) you would lose a lot of weight.

Well (you may be relieved to hear) that interpretation of Paleo didn’t make an awful lot of sense to me.

beachWhen I was a child I lived two miles from the sea. If I walked to the top of the country lane behind my house I could clearly see the sunlight and clouds reflecting on the sea in the distance.

  • How to lose 100lbs – part 2

    shadow

When I first had the idea to start this blog I expected to write a lot about my weight-loss process. I thought that I would tell you the week by week story, so that you could follow along as it happened.

Apparently when you write a weight loss diary you need to tell your readers about all the successes and all the failures, however losing weight this way has been incredibly straightforward and uneventful for me. It hasn’t been anything like the roller coaster experience I have come to expect of a calorie counting diet. My family have simply changed our diet to one that is based on Paleo principles. That is all, it doesn’t even feel like dieting, yet the weight loss has happened anyway. All 70lbs of it so far!

  • Tarn Hows

Last week, for our walk, we took a trip up into the Lake District to Tarn Hows. I have a list of easy walks and the walk around Tarn Howes, while longer than I remembered, is reasonably flat and easy underfoot. We took our time and I managed to walk the whole way around, which is one and three quarter miles. Although my husband said we would have walked it faster if I hadn’t insisted on stopping every five minutes to take photographs!
