I used to enjoy my country walks, but for the last few years walking has been very painful for me, even pottering around the house some days, so I have been spending far too much of my time sitting down.
On my adjustable computer chair. Always set at the specific height that makes sitting as pain-free as possible for me.
As part of my aim to move more and get exercise and fresh air, I have been dragging my husband outside for very short walks – I can only manage a mile at the most. Yesterday evening’s walk was painful, we’ve already been on two beach walks this week and my leg and hip are feeling oh so stiff and sore, and I think this third walk was maybe a step (or two) too far.
But such a beautiful time of day to go out for a walk! This isn’t true countryside, it is countrified parkland, it is easily accessed and can be reasonably busy on a nice day like yesterday. Yet it was so quiet to be there as the sun was setting. A small group of deer were happily grazing just to the side of the path, and we could see another larger group over the river. A few grey squirrels were darting about across the grass and up into the trees. There were ducks and swans on the river, and looking ahead we could see a heron, just standing there beside the water – like herons do.
